[NOTES] Important Tips and Keys to Know in UDK

Simple Keys and Actions

Build Geometry for Visible Levels shows your platforms and designs in the level to the player. If this is left un-clicked, you won’t be able to see anything.

Build Lighting will make the lighting that you have created, appear in your game.

Play in Editor Window will allow you to play your game. (Remember to render your items!)

Open the Content Browser will open the browser that has all textures, meshes, etc.

In the Brushes Area: Press Cube (Brushes). You fill this brush by pressing CSG Add (CSG) or CTRL+A and this will automatically fill the brush you have selected with a default texture.

Geometry Mode 
(Modes) will let you edit the shape and segments of your brush to your desire.

ALT+L and Right Click onto your scene and it will create a light source. Double click the light and you can fiddle with the settings.

Right Click > Add Actor > AddPlayerStart (do this on the scene) will create an icon to show where the player can start. You can move (with the move tool) this around to suit your needs.
